Position: Agriculture Experts

Position Overview: 

SHODH is seeking to empanel multiple consultants for its Markets for Millets project in Bundelkhand. Preferred areas of expertise include climate smart agriculture, water management, agronomy, technical training on millet farming, market linkages and value addition.

The position is required to operate from SHODH Head Office, New Delhi with travel to the project districts.

The consultants will work on designated tasks for the Markets for Millets- UP Accelerator Program, supported by 2030-WRG hosted by the World Bank Group in Bundelkhand Region of Uttar Pradesh. 

He/she will work in close coordination with the National Programme Management Unit, New Delhi.

About UP Accelerator PRAGATI

To support the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s agricultural transformation, the UP Accelerator PRAGATI (Program for Agriculture Trans-formation and Increased Incomes) was launched by the UP Multi-Stakeholder Platform, supported by 2030 WRG.

UP Accelerator PRAGATI aims to transform agricultural development in the state by significantly scaling up the adoption of climate-resilient water management and other small-farmer friendly measures that can help farmers achieve economic gains and other co-benefits such as water efficiency, soil fertility, and reduced agricultural emissions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical training on millets farming to the farmers in all 4 selected project districts of Bundelkhand, Uttar Pradesh
  • Work closely with Project coordinator and M&E Expert
  • Assisting in preparation of package of practices & training module, develop IEC, prepare slogans.
  • Responsible for prepare all kind of training reports, documentation, cross learning, visit report, exposure visit report.
  • Responsible for planning & organising millets training in each district and farmers’ meetings for climate smart agriculture through millet promotion.
  • Responsible for data collection and reporting to the PC and MLE
  • To provide technical support to the assistant trainer and farmers
  • To collect & report data from the field on daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis
  • To prepare millet seed distribution plan
  • Explore market and link with buyers
  • Any other additional work required.

Qualification:

  • Bachelors in Agriculture & Allied Science or Master’s in social work/Agriculture / Tribal Development/ Rural Development/ MBA or any other relevant degree.
  • Should be able to read/ write in Hindi and English.
  • Should have good proficiency in operating MS Word/ MS Excel/ MS PPT/ Email/ Google Applications/ Mobile Data Collection Apps
  • Should have good knowledge regarding Millets farming and good experiences working with farmers.
  • He/she should have good documentation skills
  • Willingness to travel.

Specific Skills:

  • Good Communication Skills in English and Hindi-both oral and written.
  • Pro-activeness –Ability to self-start things and operate independently.
  • Good documentation skills, coordination, communication, interpersonal and networking skills
  • Team Management and ability to handle work pressure.
  • Result-oriented and multi-tasking.

Travel Requirement: 50% of the total time in project area (Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur & Chitrakoot- Uttar Pradesh and Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh) and any other location as per the mandate of the project Remuneration/Salary: Depending on the competency of the candidate.
