Evaluation of Link Workers' Scheme

Evaluation of Link Workers' Scheme

As per the HIV Sentinel Surveillance 2007, over 57% of the HIV positive persons in India are estimated to be living in the rural areas. As the existing primary health care system has limited scope and capacity to deal with the sensitive issues like HIV, sexuality and drug use, the Link Worker Scheme was conceived for building the capacity of the rural community in fighting with HIV.

Shodh conducted the end line evaluation of the LWS in Bihar, being supported by GFATM and BSACS and implemented by TCI Foundation. The objective of this was to evaluate the overall performance of LWS in eight Districts of Bihar viz. Patna, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Siwan, Nawada, Saran, Begusarai & Sitamarhi and assess the progress and impact of the project.
